Not pedantic at all - freinds and acquaintances don't ask "what is your address?" they ask "where do you live?". My response to that is to tell them where my home is, and if they're coming to my house, the address and probably phone number.
On the other hand if a *business* asks me what my address is then I will give them a postal address which may or may not be where I live. I will give them the address which seems best to fit their requirements, it could well be a delivery address which might be my home but could also be that of another member of the family.
If they ask for the address where my credit card is registered I give them that.
When a business asks for an address they should specify what it is for as that can and does change the answer one gives. If they don't specify what the address is for then, by default, I will assume it is an address for correspondence to reach me reliably.
