Declined Application for Current Account

Not pedantic at all - freinds and acquaintances don't ask "what is your address?" they ask "where do you live?". My response to that is to tell them where my home is, and if they're coming to my house, the address and probably phone number.

On the other hand if a *business* asks me what my address is then I will give them a postal address which may or may not be where I live. I will give them the address which seems best to fit their requirements, it could well be a delivery address which might be my home but could also be that of another member of the family.

If they ask for the address where my credit card is registered I give them that.

When a business asks for an address they should specify what it is for as that can and does change the answer one gives. If they don't specify what the address is for then, by default, I will assume it is an address for correspondence to reach me reliably.

If a friend did ask your address would you give them your postal address?

If the form says they will carry out a credit reference search, which would you provide?

And if you get a CIFAS warning or fraud alert, you can be smug in the fact that they didnt ask you were you live.

And when you complain the complaint will not be upheld becasue you are assumed to know your address. I have seen it happen, using the same reason as you have given

If a *friend* asked for my address I'd assume [s]he wanted to send me something so I'd give them the same address as I'd give the bank which might or might not be where I lived. That might well be, for example, my work address because I'd be there during business hours to receive a package.

Dunno, why should I be expected to realise the significance of a "credit reference search"? If I was being naive I might give them the address of my bank!
