I only ask because I get the impression from what I read in here that you need on of these (cant remember which) to get a mortgage. However when I got my first mortage 2 years ago from the nationwide they didnt ask for either of these even though I had never had a proper job and only just graduated.
Do you need unemployment insurance/life assurance when you take out mortgage?

Most ask for Life Insurance. Remember there is no law on this it is only the terms and conditions that the Lender asks you to abide by.
If you do not like the T & C go to another lender

Neither are a requirement when taking out a mortgage. They may be recommended, depending on your individual circumstances though. HTH Vic

You dont NEED either of these although one or two lenders still insist. It might be a good idea for you to get them, but that will depend on your circumstances and your exact requirements.
