Probably the fact that she doesn't earn enough

She seems to sell about 100 items per month.

At up to 9 quid each she can't make more than 2 quid profit (unless she stole/fences them in which case tax evasion is a minor problem) so that's 200 quid a month or 2400 pa.

I don't think the tax man will be visiting (and she must really need the money)

Well she must certainly have a lot of time on her hands to do all that ebaying. Another income, not one that means she's away from her PC.
