Egg scrap cashback on Green Cards

Just received a notification of changes to Egg's T&C for my two Egg credit cards (Green and Blue)

Included in this (as well as increases in interest rates etc) was:

Changes which come into effect on 1 September 2005. The following changes are only on your green Egg Card:

"We are amending Condition 11, regarding cash back. Cash back will no longer be payable on all Purchases for those customers who applied for an Egg Card from 1 October 2001. The definition of cash back in Condition 8.1 is being changed to reflect this. For customers who applied before October 2001, cash back will be paid provided the total amount is £10 or more. These changes will not alter the amount of cash back that is paid out to you in September 2005. All customers will still be able to take advantage of our special cash back offers with online retailers."

At which point I switched to Accucard at 0.8% and closed my Egg account. However they've since dropped it to 0.5%, I suspect I'll be looking for another cashback card soon.

Silly you! Should have kept the Egg a/c open, and utilised the "guaranteed until 2006" offer for free 0% balance transfer for 5 months on each anniversary of opening (stuffing the loot into a high-interest a/c for the 5 months)...

I stopped using my green card when they cut the cashback from 1% to 0.5% "due to overwhelming customer demand". Bloody cheek - there was no question on the survey I completed asking "would you like us to halve the cashback?"! Even though I haven't used it for over 2 years now, they keep spamming me along the lines that as I'm "one of their best customers" I should "snap up" a blue card, which - they say - has a cashback of 0.5%.

So why scrap the cashback on one card at the same time as introducing a new card which does have cashback? And now long is the cashback on the blue card likely to last?

These people are patronising gits.

Should you really be interested in their latest gimmick you can apply here:

Perhaps because the green card offers 0% balance transfers (but no cashback), whereas the blue card offers cashback (but no 0% balance transfers) ... ?

Now I know why even Americans come to England for expensive courses in confusion marketing. The English are the masters!
