Euro vs. US$

Feb 13, 2004 4 Replies

Please excuse me if this has been asked before, but I am totally new to this NG.

Does anyone know where I can find a chart (or statistics) showing the exchange rate between the Euro and the US dollar since the Euro started right up to date.

Do you think the dollar will strengthen soon vs. the Euro? I need to transfer some US $ into Euros, but am not sure if I should wait a bit or not. Any advice is welcome.

Cheers, Simon, Rijswijk, The Netherlands.

Personally I doubt it. Some analyst, before the end of 2003 even said that the Euro could go all the way to 1.35 dollars before the dollar could recoup. It seems to be heading in that direction indeed. But I'm not quite an analyst. If I had to bet on it though, I'd bet the euro will stay high the whole year, above 1.15 dollar the whole year.

Ciao ciao!

Well Simon, one thing that is for *certain* is that looking at a chart of what happened in the past wont give you any information at all as to what will happen.

Your guess is just as good as anyone else's. The chart shows the dollar weakening over the last year.

The trading range is 1.22-28 at the moment, I guess. The downtrend of dollar will take years to reverse because they print recklessly money and stopping of the press will not be easy. The introduction rate of euro was about 1.15, thus the dollar has not weakened significantly even if the media tells another story. We can end up seeing outrageous rates like 1.5-2.0 at the future reversing point.
