FE: Finance

Apr 20, 2004 2 Replies

Hi, I'm a full UK citizen currently attending college in merseyside and wanting to move to a different college in norwich that offers the same course.

What finance do I have available to me to help me cover living costs? I would be leaving my parents home. I'll be moving in with friends who don't go to education.

I know there is options available for HE but I'm not sure about FE at all. The course I am doing is BTEC national diploma (level 3)

If anyone could help me that would be great.

Thanks Nick

Sorry - don't know - try and ask if there's nothing relevant. Also

The only statutory source of financial help I am aware of is Educational Maintenance Award (EMA), which is being rolled nationally now for courses beginning this autumn. Depending on your parents' income, you get up to 30 a week, and a bonus for good attendance and successful completion. Apply to your LEA. Individual colleges offer their own bursaries and access grants for those in need of financial assistance. In more vocational subjects, there are many schemes for part-time learning and day release. Details from trade bodies and career offices.
