ING broken?

I tried to access my ING account yesterday and today and couldn't get in. I put in my customer number and PIN and pressed Continue, expecting to be asked for my password in the normal way on the next page, but my browser just hung wating for a response which never came.

The last time I used it was about 2-3 weeks ago, and it was fine, so they've broken something since then.

Has anyone else noticed anything amiss? I've been using Netscape

4.79 under Linux, which worked fine since I joined in December.

OK, this isn't exactly bang up to date, but so what? Life's too short to be continually updating one's installation of everything.

Fortunately it works fine if I use a different (and less main-stream) browser (Galeon).

My other computer runs Windows, but I hardly ever use it, si it's nearly always switched off. I wouldn't trust it with my money.

Happened to me waiting for a No 67 trolley-bus.

My grandfather spoke very highly of Netscape 6.

God managed to install everything in six days starting with "Word".

Fine a few minutes ago. I had a devil of hassle finagling Opera to look like IE6 to various banking facilities. How many instances have there been of yawning backdoors discovered in Netscape or Opera? Bugger all. How many found in IE6? How much time have you got? It's a bloody conspiracy by banks sitting on MS stock. Jf

Don't scoff. My installation is not even 2 years old, and 4.79 is the version that came with my distribution. What's more, as it happens, 4.79 was *too modern* to work with RBS's PC banking, which would only work with versions up to 4.78, so I had to find that on Netscape's archives. Only quite recently has RBS's stuff begun to work with newer Netscapes.

And he saw that it was good and left it alone. He hasn't yet felt the need to re-install.

RBS have changed their policy, you can now use the latest Mozilla as well to access it. I normally use Konqueror and just trick the site.

Netscape 4.x is pretty ancient. Try upgrading to Mozilla Firefox or Konqueror, or stick with Galeon.

Gecko based browsers such as Mozilla, Galeon or Netscape 6+ are much more mainstream than Old Netscape these days.

I haven't had any problems with either Mozilla Firefox or Konqueror.

What about Noah's ark and flooding the entire earth to start again? I'd say that falls under the definition of a reinstall.

Not if the "if they need to be taught a lesson, so be it" provision was part of the originally installed program.

A few animals drifting around in a boat amounted to nothing more than a few lost clusters. Easily fixed. Anyway, we've been promised a restaurant at the reset moment.

Can it be done then? I usually use IE6 just to access RBS on-line banking, while Opera is my main browser. I tried the "look like IE" option in Opera but that didn't seem to fool the RBS website.
