International Cheques

Hi

I'm looking for a facility to cash/bank foreign currency cheques in the UK, without paying the 4 - 8 per cheque the high street banks charge.

I already cash my US dollar ones through a 3rd party processor

who have a slightly increased exchange rate but no other fees - and they pay the funds directly into my bank account. Now I'm looking for similar for (in order of preference) New Zealand, Australia, Euro, Canada & South Africa.

Any help would be appreciated - or if anyone already has a facility through their own bank then perhaps we could sort out a percentage deal to handle my cheques?

Thanks

Dave Reaney

The website doesnt give very much info to check their bone fides. There is no indication of their status i.e. Ltd Co, Sole Trader etc. The 'founder' is an "Eddie StClare" which would imply the business is a sole trader, but this could be wrong. Also, there is no address, other than a PO Box, and no registered office, all implying a 'sole trader'.

The declaration of much of the missing info is a statutory requirement.

Id rather pay the £4-£8 quid for safety.

Thanks for your comments re auctionpix. All perfectly correct of course.

For what it's worth - I have an account with them and have had no problems at all. (And No, I'm nothing to do with them - though I did check the site to see if they had an affiliate programme before my initial post!)

Not a lot of people know that the PO is obliged to provide the 'real' address for a PO box number to anyone.

And finally - my company details are all present and correct at

Oh - finally finally - anyone know where I CAN process international checks? Most have a UK value of less than a tenner, so the banks are simply not an option at their published rates.

Qute, but a PO Box number is not acceptable as a registered address for a Limited Company and the registered address MUST be shown on all documents ands invoices etc.,..

Similarly a non incorporated business using a business name must give the details of the proprietors and an actual address (NOT just a PO Box, although a PO Box CAN be shown)).

The availability of the underlying address of a PO Box number is NOT sufficient.

10/10!

If only this simple dictum could be applied to company websites. I get fed up kicking over bushels of 'contact us' pages in the hope of finding hidden lights. Jf

If the company wishes to avoid visitors, the "real" address could just be a mail forwarding address. Even if this is not the case, a "real" address can easily be vacated should it become prudent to do so.

I am surprised that so many companies dont provide the statutory details, I think Cos House should make it mandatory for websites.
