Investing In Iraqi Dinars; what do you think?

Hi.

Over the past month or so I've noticed people buying/selling the new Iraqi Dinars, from sites such as

and eBay.co.uk, in the hope of making a substantial profit in the future.

What is everybodies opinion on this; are people just wasting their time investing in the dinar or is it actually a worthwhile investment?

I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Kind regards, Chris

Well they are overcharging you for starters. 1m Dinars should cost you about £360. They are charging you £562.23.

Secondly, I really don't see why having Iraqi Dinars under your mattress is a good idea. The trend for the currency is downwards, and I think that will continue. Improving employment prospects and so on are much more important to the Iraqis than a strong currency.

I think you'll find the OP was the website, it's a scam from a spammer, ignore it.

Jim.

Really clever that!????? The OP's email address is snipped-for-privacy@hotmail.com and the website referred to is owned by, yes you have guessed it, Daniel Geoghegan !

Really clever Daniel? Just about as clever as buying in all those Iraqi Dinars!

He's a stupid bastard for even suggesting it. Aside from the UAE, pretty well all Gulf countries have no industry aside from oil, so either formally or informally their currencies simply follow the US dollar.

And you've all given him more publicity by not snipping his url... that ain't exactly bright.

Putrid poetry, dismal doggerel, extrava-stanzas...

On the contrary it links his webshite with his scam, on future searches. While all publicity used to be considered good publicity, that rule doesn't work so well on UseNet.

My thought is that you're a jerk.

You state in your site that the Iraqi dinar is such a good buy due to a low valuation relative to local currencies. You mention the Bahraini Dinar and the Omani Riyal. You obviously are unaware that both these currencies are pegged against the US dollar, logical considering that the oil exported is priced in dollars......

Similarly, anyone who has actually been to and lived in Iraq knows that no-one really ever gave a rats arse for the dinar - the dollar has always been king. It would not suprise me to hear of the complete revaluing or withdrawal of the dinar (at least, if America was a tad more popular than it is today!!)

You muppet

Er, where did I leave his URL in? I left in his email address, sure.
