and all those over optimists who said house prices are going upwards indeifinitely?.... gone very quiet from them. Are we bracing ourselves for the next fall folks?

Hopefully. Actually level prices for a decade or so would be better...
As I said Andy... optimistic, and with the cuts coming in public spending perhaps a tad blindfolded?
Why is it "optimistic" to want prices to rise? Most people would be better off with steady prices.
Except for those who earn a fortune but for some reason are unable to save anything, as Tim will probably point out soon.
The disconnect between "inflation" (a bad thing) and "rising house prices" (a good thing) is finally being noticed by some in the ignorant unwashed masses.
