Looking for Finance Course for non-finalcials. Investments, portfolio management, ...

Hi there,

I am looking for some part-time course in finance. Subject should be something around investments, portfolio management, ...

I'm not particularly interested in investing myself, I just want to know what people (colleagues?) are talking about. I want to know what the difference is between an equity and a bond. I want to know why a bond has a maturity date and a bond fund hasn't. Or was it the other way around?

My background is a PhD in computer science and currently to me these are just different tables in my database.

What I am looking for is some kind of (eventually electronic?) ambitious self-learning instructions, course material, suggested reading, etc. Maybe even a tutor who gets paid for answering my questions. It should take, say, two evenings a week for from a few weeks to three or six months or so and end with something like a test and a certificate(?).

It would be nice if something like that would exist somewhere around London.

I'm not really looking for a complete three or four term program at a university and also don't to book a one or two day crash course somewhere.

Any help, hints, links greatly appreciated

Thanks Martin Finc
