MoneyExtra web site??

Is moneyextra.com supposed to provide independent financial advise???

When carrying out comparison of deposit accounts there was no inclusion of thee Cahoot savings account which is currently offering one of the most competitive rates of interest on balances below £49,999? Are they just promoting banks that pay them to promote their products?

ISTR that the cahoot savings rate of 5.5% gross is only an introductory rate and after 12 months reverts back to the normal saving rate (currently

4.75%). That is not so great.

It's supposedly going up to 5.65% soon, and after a year there's nothing to stop you opening another introductory account. I've noticed that Cahoot doesn't appear on any of those allegedly `independant` sites - not just MoneyExtra. It's very odd. Perhaps I'm missing something?

Without a hint of irony, Alex astounded uk.finance on 02 Sep 2004 by announcing:

Not for new accounts, which are now 5.10%.

At what rate?

When I last used it about 4 weeks ago it showed up the 5.5% rate Saving Accounts.

I have just tried it and it is showing the 5.1% current account but not the

5.5% so I guess that Cahoot must have taken down the advertising for that account.

The 5.1% one is their normal savings account. You're after the `introductory rate` account which they've stopped, for now at least. Perhaps it wasn't shown on the comparisons because it was just an introductory rate - not sure how long it was available for. (It's since gone up to 5.65%).

The "introductory rate" offer closed on 2nd Sept, which might explain if its been removed from comparison sites. Dunno about the suppositories.
