Pension Advice

Oct 27, 2004 4 Replies

Thanks to all who gave advice on Wills regarding my terminally ill Mum. I haven't spoken to her regarding the advice given as she is still coming to terms with it all. Something I thought of and would like some advice on is what happens to her pension. It won't be much as she has only worked for the last 9 years or so and I don't think she joined straight away, plus her wage is very low but, are there any rules for accessing a pension when terminally ill? Her age is nearly 53 and she would have been due to retire at approx 61 1/2, I think.

Thank you once again.

I dont think there are nay firm rules , but while looking into my company pesion , there was provision for early retirement due to ill health.

I believe it varies according to the scheme. Talk to the trustees and get the scheme particulars.

Oops! just realised, I meant to post this to uk.legal. I guess pension advice is appropriate here though.

More appropriate here, I'd say.
