Pensioners to get an extra 60 in January?

There was some hype around the time of the PBR about state pension increases being brought forward from April to January.

On closer inspection, this is apparently in the form of a one-off payment of

60, which is deemed to be *equivalent* to bringing forward the increase.

However, I can find nothing about it on the DWP website. Does anyone know when and how it will be paid, and whether it is taxable?

Dunno about when and how, but if it is taxable then I would need a new tax code for the tax to be collected.

Neither the heating allowance, nor the Xmas "bonus" is taxed, but since this is a brought-forward pension increase I suppose it could be included in the assessment. :-(

Many thanks for these links - they make it very clear.

Yes - that's why I asked, since only the regular state pension is included in my Tax Code.

Anyway, the link to

posted by someone else makes it clear that it is tax free - so it won't affect the tax code.

Duh! How did I miss that on the first read? Right there in the heading paragraph!
