I have a frineds who's invested £2k and I reckon he's going to lose it, he's confident he'll make money.

On entering this web site the security certificate did not match the web site but I still entered. I noted that the investers are loaning their money to some venture where interest is promised. The venture appears to be American and the currency is in dollars. There does not appear to be any regulator advertised on the web site. I personally would not put any of my money in this venture.

Get rich schemes that don't require hard work tend to be scams, or rely rather a lot on chance (such as gambling or some bank investments).

One of my customers is forever trying to get me involved in the same venture he is in at any time. I can recall several schemes he has been in where he's been unable to show his income from it, but he never learns.

Quite.. A "friend" tried to get my wife to put £5k into 'Women Empowering Women' or the 'happy hearts club' after she had invested the same (about two years ago). She (read: we) declined, the friend lost her £5k.

Having had a look, it seems to amount to. You give us some money. We can do what we like with it, take a chunk as management fees and maybe give you some back. Oh, and we're going to use it for humanitarian aid, honest.

It appears to be an unregulated investment scam.

I never understand why, if these people can guarantee to turn £ 200 into £ 20,000 in a fortnight, why they (i) don't risk their own money and (ii) spend so much time flogging it (as opposed to lying on a private yacht, say).

I find this one quite fascinating. At least with Pyramids there's a kind of method to it, even if it doesn't work. There is a kind of "logic" that can pull you in - even if you know it's a pyramid you can "convince yourself" you can get enough people to make money personally. Not that I'm defending these scams :)

This seems to amount to "I'll give you lots of money, honest !". Are people really this stupid ?

The only thing I can see is that it is a Barlow Clowes / Ponzi construction ; it is made difficult/impossible to withdraw funds, and interest payments are paid out of incoming funds.

Even then it won't work ; 2% per day is about doubling your money every month (a little short but near enough).

Bizarro.

You will find the kiddies players lot back in uk.finance I believe.

Not so much on uk.legal.

My mum told me 60 years ago:-

"NEVER A BORROWER OR LENDER BE AND YOU WILL HAVE FRIENDS WHEREVER YOU BE."
