Is there any way that we can stop this takeover? Can I, as an

You can refuse the offer and keep your existing shares. If the bidding company gets over some threshold (90%?) they can force you to sell, otherwise you can hang on. However, being a minority shareholder in a company which is controlled by someone else is not necessarily a particularly comfortable position, and you may well be unable to sell the shares in the future. Of course, if enough shareholders refuse the offer the bid may not succeed at all.

What percentage of the shares do you hold?

You might find the following to be useful references. Companies Act

1985 s459 is, I think, the relevant section.
