Recommend an insurance policy for using high value test equipment?

Nov 16, 2009 2 Replies

I will be borrowing some high value test equipment for about a week. This may occur a few times over the course of the year. The equipment itself costs about £100k.

I am looking for an insurance policy that would cover accidental damage or loss of the equipment over the short periods it is in my possession. I do not need any other cover when this piece of hardware is not in my possession.

Can anyone recommend an insurance policy type that I should search for and how much I can expect to fork out?

Thanks.

It might be easier/cheaper to ask whoever owns the tools to speak to their insurance company, tell that company that you'll be borrowing the tools, and see how much extra (if any) the existing insurer would charge for the tools to be in your possession for a week or so. (Assuming that the tools are covered for accidental damage the rest of the time, and assuming that if any specialist qualifications/ experience are needed for handing the tools then you have those things).

The insurance policy should have a good critical cover if any damag

occurs then it should at least pay good amount
