Can someone tell me the best travel insurance policy for a person aged >65?
I found that having an AMEX Platinum Card gave you year-round cover until you will be 80 or 85, and is hard to beat at the price of the annual fee.
I'm was just in the process of signing up for the AMEX platinum card, largely because of the 2% cash rebate for purchases over £7501, and was completely unaware of any travel insurance policy.
I've just been reading through the small print and can't see mention of it anywhere. I was about to ring them and ask about it, but searching through all the spiel and the covering letter it appears that they don't publish a contact phone number - somewhat surprisingly.
Two questions: a) can you tell me a little bit more about the travel insurance, e.g. how does one qualify? and b) do you happen to have a contact tel. no. Their postal address is in Brighton, Sussex.

You are presumably signing up for the Credit Card, I have the Charge Card. A booklet called "The Platinum Card, Summary of Benefits" has all the details, revised January 2005. Cover stops at 80th Birthday, and for rental cars at 75.
Customer Service is at 0845 608 0845.
I have the Amex Platinum credit card.
I was interested in the perks (travel insurance, airport lounges) and discovered that this is 'free' if you have the Platinum charge card.
Not sure if having the credit card gives you a discount, but was quoted around £100 for an annual world-wide single travle insurance policy.
It would be wise to read the small print. While the medical benefits are straight-forward, the same cannot be said with regard to things such as cameras and the like.
