From the FT, regarding Sea Containers:



"The company blamed GNER's problems on ... better than expected performance from Network Rail, owner and operator of the UK rail network. Network Rail has to pay train operators if problems with track or signalling delay their trains, but there have been far fewer delays recently than anticipated when GNER signed the franchise contract."


And I thought they concerned themselves with things like passenger numbers.

So it's a 'railway', not a 'railroad'.

Don't be picky. That's a quotation, which I'm sure you can find if you search for it.
