Where can I ...?

... invest 50k for about six months without being utterly staid with it, and probably taking a mild risk to increase return?

I'd be interested in putting it off-shore if at all possible.

TIA

Thanks, Rob. However, what is OEIC? And where would I get info on these?

Last time I was there, Moneyextra's comparison tool of Stocks/Shares ISA's included such investment products:

An OEIC is a unit trust in new clothes, for most practical purposes they are the same thing. Most fund management companies will have a corporate bond fund and will have explanatory material on their web site. You can find comparison information on trustnet:

It seems there are 135 to choose from! Be aware that the higher the interest rate the higher the risk, not all bonds are safe. Also some funds deduct charges from capital to enhance the interest.

Oh, and another point, if it's only for six months you'd have to make sure that you avoid paying an initial charge, e.g. by buying through a discount broker.
