choosing between accounting and marketing

I am a college student trying to decide between the two majors.

I plan to take up a job soon after my undergrad, but am very keen on going to graduate school (MBA /LAW ? ) after gaining some work experience and collecting grad school tuition money. I am not sure what the pros and cons of choosing one major over the other would be. For now it looks like marketting jobs are hard to land but people in the accounting profession have a more stagnant career curve. I may be wrong.

Any opinions/suggestions are deeply appreciated.

Thanks! A

Pros the accounting track: Once you gain a few years of experience and do ok, you will almost always be able to find a job anywhere ...it may not pay huge, but then again if you do a really good job, it could pay very well.

Cons: the work can be tedious and stressful... it can be hard to stay awake, and the first year or so most people feel very stupid...and if you don't have a good boss/mentor/trainer, you won't learn what you need to learn as fast as someone who does.

Pros to marketing: if you sell well, you will make more money and there will be much less stress involved... but selling is of course a riskier career than accounting... if you're not in sales, but in more of a general marketing path, ... to be honest I don't know what to tell you.. I haven't done that, so maybe I should just leave it at that.

I too am an accounting major, and have had the privilege of working as a marketing assistant with a young international franchisor. Deciding which career to pick really depends on your personality. Also, I can guarantee that marketing majors are a dime a dozen and do not land lucrative jobs easily. If you are an extreme people person, go into marketing. You will have better luck in that field.
