How to determine the quality of your accountant?

How does one determine the quality of their accountant and whether they are getting their money's worth? I guess you could give the same info to another accountant and see what he/she does but that too would be pretty expensive. I have even thought of taking the material and trying Turbo Tax. Any ideas?

If you feel you aren't getting your money's worth, then change accountants.

It could be. And we don't like to second guess the other guy's work based on maybe just the return.

And....you'll make a decision based on whether or not the Turbo Tax refund is higher? Lower? Just right?

What you're doing. it seems, is measuring that software against the other guy's software.

There's really more to it than that.

  1. You mean tax preparer not accountant.

  1. WHAT, you can't do your own taxes!
