'nother Question about non-profit entries

Like I said, I'm setting up some books from scratch, using a Unified Chart Of Accounts I found somewhere after starting out on Guidestar.org.

I'm supposed to report income from "affiliated organizations" separately but - I'm thinking that by "affiliated" they mean relationships like United Way local vs United Way national.

We get money from other organizations that aren't technically related to us, but do share the same goals. (Which is why they give us money - duh.)

That's not really "affiliated" is it?

It's probably not an affiliated organization.

They mean just as you suspect, the local, state and national United Way are affiliated. Same for the local chapter of the CPA society to the state organization, local church to the regional, state or national governing body, etc and so on. There is generally some level of reporting, control or financial ties. I've noticed that the funds rarely flow downhill from big to little.
