quick management accounting question

Hi,

I saw Shaum's Management Accounting in a used bookstore for $5.95. I have wanted to learn more about that (I am not an accountant but a small business person). The only concern I have is the copyright is something like 1981. Has management accounting changed alot since then?

Thanks.

If your manager's salary doesn't allow you to buy the new thing, then I'd consider a job change, lol

Very much so. You'll get the essential old basics, but only that. You'll miss all the modern concepts introduced roughly since 1990.

Activities Based Costing (and its myriad permutations) is one example that comes to mind.

A lecture on the subject is a bit much to ask. Thus, please browse the contents list of the managent accounting journals given on the last line of my signature. They are readily found on the net and will give you and indication of the present hot topics.

(Reposted. The first had a wrong signature version.)

This is a online textbook written by a management accounting professor at the University of South Florida. He actually used this to teach from. He retired this year. His site has about anything you could ever want to know about management accounting theory.
