How do I delete a business?

When I was learning Peachtree I created a fictitious business. How do I delete the business now that I no longer need it?

Just use Windows explorer and delete the folder containing the company files. It will show up on your screen when you open Peachtree unless you edit the pcw***.ini file to eliminate the entry in the Open History section of the file.

And then, because the pcw120.ini file was changed, and because it is owned by Windows, it is necessary to reboot or else Peachtree hangs up on the opening screen. Strange Peachtree doesn't have something internal to delete a business, or else the ability to create a temporary business for learning purposes.

I always do any ini file editing with the program closed. Then the new file will automatically be recognized when the program is reopened. A reboot is only necessary if you are playing with the windows ini files used with win9x/ME such as win.ini.

I closed Peachtree, edited the file, saved it and then tried to reopen Peachtree without rebooting. It hung at the opening screen because it couldn't find the deleted business. I'm using Windows XP home edition with all of Billy's latest patches and fixes. After reboot it didn't look for the deleted business and Peachtree opened normally.

I am using XP pro and was able to open PT without rebooting the machine.

Was the company you deleted the last company opened? You would also need to change some other references to that company.

Yes, it was the last company that was open. What else do I have to change?

Look for these lines:

LastCompanyOpenLastCompanyOpenShort It might be easier to open up a different company and then make the changes. This way the company you want to delete is not the last company opened.
