buydown quantity does not work

Why hasn't Microsoft fixed the buydown quantity problem? I notified my Microsoft Partner and put in a product sugestion over a year ago and it is still possible to over sell buydown items. I also just notified Microsoft a month ago that this problem still exist in the new version 2.0. It seems when setting up a buydown item one enters the buydown price and the buydown quantity and it works great till you near the limit of items avaiable at the buydown price. To expalin the problem I will give the following example: you have 5 case of beer left at a buydown price of $15 (normally a $30 priced item) and a customer comes in and buys 3 case on one sale. Now there are two buydown items left and another customer comes in and he also purchases 3 case and the system permits all 3 to be sold at the low price of $15. It seems that as long as there is one item left to be sold at the buydown price the system will permit any number of that item to be sold if it is in one sale. I did find this out the hard way when we lost close to $100 on one sale because of this bug. I am sure we lost much more on previous items that were on buydown before we noticed this problem.

I put in a suggestion on 6/4 for just this sort of thing. To set sales based on the quantity of items that you bought at a discount. For example you buy

20 items at a discount so you put them on sale and after those items are sold you want it to go back to regular price. Please vote for it so we have a chance at getting it added to the features in 3.0 Craig

hi Norm, Sorry the last statement was little confusion, now let me clear with your idea and I follow as you said I had one item in sample database 15002 with qty 3 balance and 79.99 price I made buydown 2 qty and price to 50. to first customer i sold 1 qty and price goes as it was made that is 50 immediately qty also reduce where it should be then I made one more sale of item and same price apply now the Buydown qty is zero in system but buydown price was already there. Now I again sell the balance item and it goes with 79.99 Now I am using RMS 1.3 and it works fine here I applied the all require patches, It now seems that you need some kind of servicepacks/patches to apply your RMS.

Look in the RMS help menu. It tells you right there that additional quatities on the same line item will be sold at the buydown price even if you go over the buydown quantity. After that it will go to the regular price. So it is working as they intended it to. This is why I say buydown will not work for what I want to do. They either need to change the way it works or add an additional discount schedule which is what I was suggesting. Craig
