Creating an Add-in for POS 2.0

Nov 29, 2008 1 Replies

I am trying to create an add-in for a Microsoft Dynamics POS 2.0 installation that does not have RMS installed.

I have the RMS Customization Guide 1.0, but does not seem to apply. I thought the process would be similar enough that I could figure it out.

Creating the COM Component seemed straight forward enough, however POS 2.0 does not have a dll named QSRules.dll. There are however both a Microsoft.Rms.BusinessRules.dll and a SORules.dll.

The process for Invoking the COM Component must be different as well. While there is a Addins directory in the "Microsoft Dynamics - Point of Sale" directory, there is not a registry entry for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Retail Management System. There is a registry entry for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Business Solutions Point of Sale but there are no Hooks subkeys to store the DLL references. There is, however, a table called AddInData with the following structure: ID int, AddInGuid uniqueidentifier, RegisterID int, Data ntext. The values that should be in the AddInGuid field and RegisterID field are obvious, but I have no idea what data should be placed in the Data field.

Has anyone created an Add-In for standalone MS POS 2.0 that could give me some insight?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Microsoft POS does not allow add-on programs. Not a feature for it like it is for MS RMS. Troy Bell
