Different from 1.2 vs 1.3

Where is there a list of what 1.3 really does provide in way of improvement over 1.2, without all the marketing bullsh** to get you to upgrade? We have requested a bug to be fix for years now with the cashier return limit field. It can not be set at 0.00, but at 0.01 to keep cashiers from doing a return. The 0.00 the software treat it like they have no limit on doing return. My senior management is getting tired of waiting on Microsoft to fix it. There are other bugs, but this is the 1st to come to my mind.

The only thing that really changed at the Store level is that Credit Card numbers are always masked - it is no longer optional.

The other changes are all in HQ, and mostly behind the scenes - Improvements in the communication and memory useage efficiency. The ability to delete completed worksheets in bulk is intended to improve the response time in HQ Manager. That's the only visibile HQ change that I can think of.

The 1.3 disk has a readme file that includes the list of changes - that's probably what you want to look at.

Just incase you don't have a 1.3 disk yet... Here's the relevant part of the readme file:

1.1 Credit Card Masking.

For security reasons, credit card numbers in the store database are automatically masked to ensure the security of customer information.

1.1.1 Important Note:

During installation, Store Operations will permanently mask all credit card numbers in the Store database. If you want to retain the numbers, you must back them up manually before installation. Credit card numbers on journaled receipts will not be masked.

1.1 Improved Headquarters performance

Experience better scalability, reliability, and stability with Microsoft Retail Management System Headquarters Version 1.3.

1.2 Improved integration with Microsoft® Great Plains

Better coordinate and track store and headquarters information shared between Retail Management System and Great Plains software. A Great Plains

8.0 integration add-in is available on the Microsoft PartnerSource Web site.

1.3 Delete Completed Worksheets. Use Headquarters Administrator to delete completed worksheets to free up memory and improve system performance.

1.4 Bug Fixes

These are the most significant bugs that have been fixed with this release (includes both Headquarters and Store Operations):

610 Memory leak with HQ Server and HQ Client

647 Worksheet history deletion

664 Credit card masking

662 POS idle timeout while processing worksheets

544 'Not Enough Storage' bug while downloading global customers

615 'File already exists' run-time error with HQ Server

626 Updated PO.xml file for Store Operations and Headquarters
