Some of our employees have accepted backorders for customers when ringing them up. Our inventory must have been off because when they scanned the item, it said we didn't have any in stock ... do you want to backorder? Well, they selected YES by mistake. Now I don't how to get rid of these outstanding backorders. Does anyone know how?
How do I cancel or delete backorders?

Cindy - if you have processed a backorder by mistake, just fulfill it by going to F7 set customer, select the customer linked to your backorder, then F11 Recall Backorder, select your backorder, then F12 to tender and select pick up entire backorder - this should close the backorder. Do this for all your "mistake" backorders.
If they are all "mistakes", disable backorder functionality in store ops mgr
- file - configuration - options - POS options - uncheck "enable backorders".
When the backorder is created the inventory is deducted and the sale completed. Fulfilling the backorder is just a way of telling the system that the backordered item has been picked up or shipped to the customer.
Hope this helps
