Item/Customer Lookup Bug

Not sure if this is a bug or Microsofts designed it this way but whenever we press F2 or F7 for item or customer lookup and then scan in the items lookup code or customer account number, the corresponding item or customer is not selected although the item or customer does exist in the database. We have to go to Find screen and then try it. Is this is how it is supposed to work, if so it is confusing for the cashier and has let to errors because they just hit F2 and then scan the barcode to find it and many times it takes them to an incorrect item which is very easy to select. Any help is appreciated.

Thx.

Try reindexing the database from SO Administrator (Database/Reindex)

Also, check to make sure that the item lookup codes don't have spaces or other odd characters in front of them. The Lookup window will only do a "Starts with" search/sort - the Find Window uses "Contains"

If you search for "12345", the item lookup window will NOT find "012345" or " 12345", but the Find window would.

MOI,

Make sure you are in the proper column. When you select F2, make sure that the little semi-transparent triangle is in the Item Lookup Code column header or that it says "Lookup Item Lookup Code" at the top left above the entry box. For F7, the triangle should be in the AccountNumber column header

The bigger question is why are you doing an F2 lookup and then scanning the barcode? Just scan the barcode while in the first column of POS. For the F7, you must, but not for Items.

MOI,

I've attached a picture of what I'm talking about.

When you press the F2, you should see what's on the picture. The semi transparent triangle in the ILC column.

I'm really confused about what you are saying though. You press F2 to look something up and _then_ you scan it with the bar code reader? Why? Just click OK and it will take you back to the POS screen and place the item on the sale!
