Label Printing Error

After upgrading from 1.2 to 1.3R (1.3.1002), I am now experiencing an problem when printing labels. When I am in the Purchase Orders screen and choose Receive, I then scan in the received items. I then select Labels, click the Add All button, select the ITD/RTD radio button and then click the Set Quantity button. Then I select the Next button and complete the Print Label Wizard.

If there are 30 items on the Purchase Order, with one of each item, the wizard will consistently print 30 copies of the first item on the list. This occurs from any station and no matter how the list is sorted.

This error did not occur under 1.2. Does any know of a fix for this?

Ted,

Are these serial numbered items? There is a hotfix that mentions this problem fixed;

When you receive serialized items on a purchase order, and then print labels from the receiving window using the Labels button, a default quantity of one is assigned to all the serialized items regardless of the quantity that was received

Jeff:

These are not serialized items (we don't use any serial numbered items), and the problem is not that only one label is printed for each item, but that the total number of labels that should print are produced for only the first item on the list.

If I have a PO with two items, item one is 3 ea. DVD movies and item two is

1 ea. Lingerie, the system will print four labels for the DVD movie and nothing for the Lingerie. However, if the list is resorted in the Print Label Wizard so that Lingerie is first in the list, the system will print four labels for Lingerie and nothing for DVD movies.

As most of our POs are for 40 to 50 items, this is causing a BIG problem. I am currently having to print out the PO, go into the item properties for each line of the PO and print out labels separately.

I need help soon with this problem.

Ted,

I'm not seeing the issue on my end.

What kind of printer?

Jeff:

Two Barcode Blaster Advantage printers. This problem never appeared until I upgraded to 1.3R,

Ted,

Why did I know you were going to say that!!

Our demo Blaster is still out on loan to a customer as his broke. ;-(

Let's see if anyone else can reproduce the problem .

What printer driver are you using - Cognitive's Windows driver or the Generic/Text only?

Post your label template please

Jeff:

I'm using the Generic/Text Only driver. My label format is:

'BBSale 1"X2" Label

[INITIALIZE] [LABEL] ! 0 100 110 1 VARIABLE MODE 1 VARIABLE Write WIDTH 240 PITCH 90 STRING 9x12 2 5 STRING 5X7 2 25 STRING 5X7 2 35 BARCODE CODE128A 1 75 20 END [FINALIZE]

This is happening in the only store that I have upgraded so far (I upgraded to try and fix my PO creation problem that I posted about on 6/14/2006, which still doesn't work). My other two stores are using the same configuration (printer, driver and label format), without any problem.

If I can't resolve this, I guess I'll have to roll back to the previous version.

Ted, I had a customer report a similar problem with a Generic/Text based Zebra printer, but when I watched them do it, they were not setting the quantity correctly. Once they did, the labels printed fine. The process you described sounds right to me. We are going to try replicating with a Generic/Text based Zebra printer on 1.3R1. The label quantities should generate the same way for any text based printer, so hopefully we can either replicate the problem or find a problem in your process.

Thanks, Glenn

Ted,

As a test, and it shouldn't make a difference that I'm aware of, try either using the RMS default bb1x2.lbl or take out the two Variable lines and see what happens.

I thought you contacted support on the PO creation issue?

Ted, We were able to replicate this on 1.3R1 with a Zebra Generic/Text driver. Will be testing the latest hotfix tomorrow, and if the issue is still there we'll submit a bug report to Microsoft.

Ted and Glenn,

Hmmm, I tried creating a fake BB printer yesterday and couldn't reproduce it. Granted it wasn't with a real Blaster printer.

Added a new Generic/Text only and pointed it at my laser. Then printed labels for a PO with multiple lines and different quantities. Selected the bb1x2.lbl and it printed the label formatting codes (which is what I expected) the proper number of times per item.

Glenn: Did the hotfix resolve the problem? If so, how can I get a copy of it? Thanks,

Hi Ted, We used the latest hotfix for 1.3 Refresh (1.3KB918737) and the labels are now printing as they should be. You can obtain the hotfix by filing a support request on customer source.
