Jan 18, 2008 8 Replies

i am in the liquor business and everything we do is by SIZE. it would be great to have a data base field for Size. track sales by size discount formula by size( if x size and x quantity then % discount) etc. or is there a way to do this i am not aware of?

We generally use one of the sub description fields for size in our liquor store implementations. You can setup a detailed sales report to filter on sub descriptions so you can check your sales. As far as the discounting. The only way I know of to accomplish this is through customization, which we have done many times in the past. I hope this helps.

You can use a drop down list also. File -> Configuration -> Options -> Item options -> Show previously defined Item SubDescriptions. You can write manually a new subdescription or choose from previously entered values.

Is there way to manage the list of sub descriptions ?

Is there a way to eliminate some from the list and substitute them with another on list ? for example i have 12/12oz and 12/12 OZ

Can i delete one and have the program substitute it with the correct one ?

Thanks;

I made some testing and I think that the system offers descriptions that are in use in the Item table. You can modify them in SO Manager too by overwriting in Item Properties Window. So if you change all "12/12oz" to "12/12 OZ" the first one disappears from the list (if you know SQL, you can do it in the database).

Hello

Yes this does work but this does not prevent someone from entering different value manually. Is there a way to pre-configure a list ( as with categories or departments) that would fore users to select one?

Thanks
