PCCharge or ICVerify?

Which works best with RMS 2.0? Which one is suggested?

Thanks,

Wade

Or maybe I should ask for a better solution?!?

Why are you wanting to use an external software for CC processing? I was using ICVerify with 1.3 until someone helped me break the code and get RMS

1.3 set up for my processor First Data.

I've never user ICVerify, so this may not be 100% accurate, but my understanding is that at some point in the ICVerify development they changed the way it interfaces with other programs and MS did not support this change in RMS. This means that only older ICVerify Versions are compatible with RMS. I believe that you can set an option in ICVerify that tells it to use the older integration methods and thus force it to be compatible.

PC Charge works fine and supports a wide range of processors, but anytime you are adding additional software to the solution, you have added complexity. If there is any way that you can use the built-in card processing your life will be easier. The only reason that I have ever installed PCCharge was because the customer had an incredibly low pre-negotiated rate with their merchant services provider that was based on not using VITAL.

We want to continue to use our current processor. The rate is a very good rate negotiated by the South Dakota Retailers Association. I'll check into First Data to compare.

This is most likely the route that I will take. I want to be able to stay with our current processor or have the freedom to choose from many others and not be limited to a select few.

Thanks for the help!

The built in "Preferred Provider" integration is not really limited to a 'select few' providers. It is limited to VITAL as the processor (providers are sort of like resellers for processors). Most providers CAN offer Vital, but in some cases it is not their preferred system. In those cases you will end up paying a premium to use Vital with that provider. Most group negotiated rates will specify the processor that will be used. In some cases that may be Vital, in others it may be Paymentech, Global or some other processor. SO, you do have choices with the built in integration and you can get competitive rates; however, unless your association's negotiated rates were based on a Vital solution, you will probably have a hard time matching them as an individual merchant...

The "code breaking" I referred to was mapping the labels on VITAL setup sheet I got from FirstData to the fields in RMS to set up. I had a post sometime in 4Q06 that showed the mapping.

I didn't look into the built in processing in RMS to deep. I may have had some misunderstandings about it or maybe just some misconceptions.

Anyway, I wanted to let people know which way we went for a solution because many times, the "final" solution is not posted. We went with PCCharge, which I know many wouldn't have, but we did for whatever reasons.

PCCharge was fairly simple to configure. A call to them with the data sheet provided by our provider and 3 minutes later we had a successful PCCharge test.

After that, I had to call once more to have them add a user "1" to match our register number because PCCharge's "User1" cannot be changed or renamed.

After that, everything worked nicely.

Thanks everyone for their suggestions.

I have used and serviced both softwares. Pc Charge with a Greenlight Payments merchant account will work the best with Microsoft RMS POS Software. Ic Verify and Greenlight Payments, Inc merchant account will only work with MOTO accounts and not RMS POS software.

Hope that helps

TPI/Hypercom Client add many option's for processors like Elavon(nova), FDS(First Data), Concord, Global, etc. It opens your option up alot. and if you change processors you dont need a new key like PcCharge.

Also the newer version of PcCharge and ICverify have gone to a IP method of transfers from the file drop. the hypercom software is hooked into RMS and will do debit on more than just the I6550, EBT, and check verification also.
