POS 2.0 Service Pack 2 renders QB accounting interface useless

After applying SP2 to POS 2.0 (not RMS), the accounting interface only allows select asset accounts from QB to be specified and does not provide for both debit and credit account specification as it did before sp2. So far, there is no repair and this critical loss of functionality seems to have been deliberate in an effort to simplify the MS Accounting interface. As a result, the QuickBooks interface is rendered effectively useless and we have not been able ot post batches to QB for two weeks. MS Technical Support has not been able help. I have asked for guidance from POS Product Management to determine if this is the end state and POS will no longer be viable for those shops that need prroper accountinmg.

As an update, the SP2 release notes are slightly incorrect as they pertain to the QB integration. The notes say

" Intuit QuickBooks Accounting

If you had previously set up integration with Intuit QuickBooks Accounting, the integration will be preserved when you upgrade. However, if you run the Accounting Integration Wizard again, you may need to map different accounts to the Point of Sale posting categories. This is due to a program change that was implemented in this release to simplify the account mapping."

In fact, when we tried to post to QB after applying SP2, without any change to the account mappings, the posting failed because it was out of balance. Upon trying to use the mapping tool in POS to correct the issue, we found that the change in this release to "simplify the account mapping" made it impossible to map any liability account in QB at all only select asset accounts. Also, there is no longer any way to specify a debit or credit account. Apparently, the POS value is simply to be passed to a single QB assett account. This does not alow proper GAAP accounting and has left us with no GL interface.

Jeff, Please post any updates to this issue. I run my business with POS 2.0 and have NOT upgraded to SP2 yet. I will wait until this issue is resolved.

JD, If you see this, please post if this issue was resolved for you and how. I pinged Jeff at Microsoft but have not heard from him. I also use POS 2.0 but have not installed SP2. I would view full integration with Quickbooks (as it was prior SP2) to be a mandatory state. thx.
