retail pro (DOS) file conversion

Has anyone converted inventory, vendor, and customer files from Retail Pro DOS to RMS? How is it done?

We are an RMS dealer, my Client does not like Retail Pro nor their service / support and want to make a switch. Not too sure what version they have other than it is running on DOS (even a DOS computer!)

Actually, you can get the report output into an import file. One of our first RMS installs was a similar conversion from DOS based Retail Pro. I have no idea how to get the reports out of Retail Pro, but our customer was able to find a function that saved the reports as comma separated value (CSV) files. I think they set the reports to output to file instead of to screen. We were able to import their item list and customer list. They were also able to output the transaction history, but we just loaded it into the Customer.Notes field for reference - I wasn't bold enough to attempt to import it. If we were doing it today, we might use Retail Realm's import utility which actually supports loading of transaction data...
