Unique UPC or item lookup code

In our record store, we sell new and used CD's and LP's. We have been attempting to add used CD's with UPC's to our active RMS database (which currently only has new CD's in it) but have been foiled in our attempts to do so. If a new copy of the CD exists in our inventory, we cannot add the used CD because a unique UPC is needed. We tried to set up New and Used Departments and that made no difference - the error message pops up saying that a unique UPC is required! We were hoping that if you did a Find for a particular CD, and you had a new copy as well as a used copy, you could display both with the value of the number onhand! Any thoughts on how to do this?

You can set it as a Matrix. This will allow you to have non-unique UPCs. You can create it as New and Used, and when scanned, will prompt the cashier to state whether it is new or used, and sell the appropriate item. I ran across this problem with some of my inventory and found the Matrix option to be a lifesaver here.

Hope this helps.
