First of all, Thank u for MS community user group members.

I need the best way to change item lookup code. Let me Know your idea.

We have 2 store and HQ. We are usig this retail menagement for 3 years. We need to add new item and modify old item , kinds of this thing , etc..

Example, We are using one item that item lookupcode is 003001. And this item's supplier is A and B. A and B's Price is different. But Same item. So, We do sell another price per supplier.

So. I want to divide this item code to 003001A and 003001B. And then, I make new item code 003001B. And, I modify 003001 to 003001A.

After that, I do download item(003001A, 003001B) from HQ to store. So, 003001A don't have sale history. But I want that 003001A has 003001's history.

Anyway, I don't know this way is right or wrong. And I think that item lookup code including charactor is wrong. What's the best way?

Give me your idea.

Like Jeff, I would urge you to reconsider. Set the retail price based on the higher cost and when you can buy from the supplier with the better price, you make more money. Perfect. Consumers love consistency.

If that doesn't work for you, here's my suggestion:

Change the Item Lookup Code from 003001 to 003001A. The 'new' 003001A will have all of 003001's history. Copy the item, make the new item 003001B, make sure to change suplier & inventory info for the new item.

Again, my first recommentation is don't do it.

Tom
