Cost of Goods Sold not posting after a certain date?

I've looked everywhere for solutions on my problem but can't seem to find one. Here's the deal:

  1. I create a sales receipt with an inventory item on the 25th.
  2. I look at the COGS account and see that it reports the cost as 0.00 even though the item item costs 2.15.
  3. I look at my Sales:Merchandise account and see that has been posted from the sales receipt.
  4. I change the date of the order to the 21st....now the cost shows up in COGS, then I change it to any date on or before the 21st, it shows up in COGS. I do this with a number of sales receipts and came to the conclusion that Quickbooks will only recognize posts to the COGS if its on or before the 21st but will still post the income. If the order date is after the 21st, it reports it as 0.00

WHY? Please somebody, anybody, help me!

I've been testing ever since the 21st, pulling my hair out. The 21st is the day that I first created my company file and created my inventory items though. Would that have something to do with it?

I asked the question because the date is important. SlowBooks doesn't book future dated transactions in the same was as current or past dated transactions.

Some of the things I tried:

  1. On Aug 28th, I created a sales receipt for the 26th, still didn't hit the COGS even though it is a past transaction. QB must not like it after the 21st.

  1. On Aug 28th, I created a purchase order and linked one of the items to a customer. I dated the purchase order to be on the 24th. Selected Receive items without bill and also dated it on the 24th. I then created a sales receipt, used time/cost button to apply the PO item to the customer. I used the 23rd as a date for the order and then the 27th for the order, QB is still not liking any order that is after the 21st.
