First year uing the QB Payroll Svc

No problems at all during 2006. My question for year end:

If I let QB print my W-2's and W-3 (there's no state income tax in our state), will IRS accept the forms? In particular, the W-3 states on its face that "Photocopies are not acceptable"

But the IRS instructions for W-2 page 1 state that:

"you may use an acceptable substitute that complies with ....(bureaucratic BS which cites both the W-2 and W-3 ...). Your substitute forms must comply with requirements in Pub. 1141"

QB2005 help says that their forms have been blessed by IRS.

Does that apply to the W-3?

I agree it is all bureaucatic bullshit, that is why I print my forms on toilette paper (single ply not double ply).

You're okay with QB-generated forms - with one exception.

W2s must be perforated. There are two ways to do this: You can scronge the web looking for perforated paper (it does exist). Or you can make your own perforater.

If the latter, go to Walmart. Buy a cloth cutting wheel in the crafts department. Use a file or (better) a Dremel to notch the wheel. Works swell.
