How to link time and cost to sales order

We receive a PO from the client for a fixed number of hours that we can bill for our employees on a monthly basis. I enter the time under the employee time and create an invoice using those hours. I keep track of the billable hours remaining on that PO in Excel.

Can I have quick books track the number of hours remaining on a PO ? I tried to use the sales order to track this but have the following issue.

If I create the invoice create using the add time/cost this does not get updated in the sales order. Is there a way to link time and cost to Sakes order in Quick books.

Add an optional field to the PO and update manually.
