No Item Numbers?

This is a feature that just must be there. Now where is it? :D

If you want numbers you'll have to include them in the Item ID.

Oh God. Why did I buy this software? Why, why, why!

Your problem is not that you bought the product, the problem is that you did not reseach it first.

  1. It's cheaper than writing your own?
  2. It's cheaper than Solomon or Great Plains?
  3. It's better than the rest no matter the price?

HeyBub

You tell us. Honestly.

By the number and nature of your recent posts it is clear that the requirements for the software package you needed for your 'project' were not clearly defined and/or you failed to apply those requirements to the purchase of QB.

To recap:

--Custom fields in QB may be added, but are not true numeric even if populated with numbers, and QB will not perform calculations on those fields. If you create a custom field for use in a sales order (LBS OUT - per your example) you cannot get a SUBTOTAL on the custom field.

--Customer names in the customer:job list are treated as a single alphanumeric field. How you enter the customer name determines how they may be sorted. To sort last name-comma-first name you must ENTER lastname, firstname.

--QB does not offer bills-of-lading type shipping labels

--QB will not generate item numbers for you. The item list, like the customer:job list, treats the item id you enter as a single alphanumeric field. If you want a number in your item id, you must ENTER the number when you create the item.

If you REQUIRE these options, you must either find a package that delivers them (custom software for your field perhaps?) or work-around the limitations of the software package you chose.
