purge fiscal 2004 when new 2005 info exists?

Hi Everyone,

First of all, I love this group. It has helped me out a lot. Now I find myself in another bind.

My company starts our fiscal year on Dec. 1, 2005. However, our Quickbooks file goes back to 2002. Is there a way that I can purge all entries up to Nov. 30, 2004?

Basically, I want all entries up to Nov. 30,

2004 to be moved and deleted from our company's new 2005 fiscal company (which has many entries since Dec. 1). I will of course save all entries before Dec. 1, 2004.

If you know if this is possible and how, I would appreciate the advice. Or is this impossible?

Thanks, tristar

You can run the Archive and Condense process in QuickBooks which condenses but doesn't remove the old transactions in QuickBooks.

You can also make a copy of your existing file and run the Archive and Condense "Remove ALL transactions " option. This will get rid of all the transactions and leave the lists in place. You will need to enter your beginning balances in this new file as of the last day of your year. For a calendar year company, this would be 12/31/05 for a new 2006 file. For you its probably 11/30/05.
