I use QB 2004 pro without subscribing to QB payroll service since we only have 3 salaried employees. I have it set up and running fine EXCEPT: When I go to pay employees, the selection "Create check without preview using hours below and last quantities" is greyed out, forcing me to enter all the tax and deduction data manually each paychek. QB help says "The name of this option may change according to your Payroll & Employee preferences. Preferences are located on the Edit menu." I've tried endless combinations of settings in Payroll & Employee preferences to no avail. Anyone have a clue?
