QB2006 5 user upgrade - worth it?

I just discovered a $737+ charge to my credit card by QB without any notice related to this upgrade.

We are currently using QB2005 with the 5-user license. When I got the 5-user license, they offered the 'enhanced payroll' subscription for essentially the same price as the basic payroll.

Now the new 'free upgrade' is costing me another $400+ for a new 5-user license for the new version. In addition, the 'Enhanced payroll' is now $100 more than the basic payroll, which apparently only saves me the trouble of filling out a couple of state tax forms every quarter. Not sure it's worth an extra $100.

Looking at the promos for 2006 on the QB website, I'm not impressed.

Does anyone else have any observations on the 'benefits' of upgrading from QB2005 to QB2006?

I've heard that there was an increase in price for payroll but I've not had it hit my card yet. Due to me loosing my computers and software in Hurricane Katrina, QB graciously offered to replace my lost software (2005 -5 user) with 2006. I literally just got it today and installed it on

3 systems. A quick look and I like what I see. No huge differences but some subtle ones. But, I can't say enough to make me shell out more $$$ if what I have is working for me.

I decided it wasn't worth it. I called them up and told them to cancel the upgrade and return me to basic payroll. They credited my card for the $737 and then rebilled me for the basic payroll service.

While the basic payroll is pretty expensive, it's probably still less than an accountant.

Thanks for the response.
