Quickbooks for tracking in maintenance dept?

Jan 19, 2006 2 Replies

I work in the maint dept of a local factory

Our requisition and ERP system is crap. Clumsy and hard to get info out of but we must use it. So what we do is keep track of things we order using an Excel sheet. Needless to say this Excel sheet becomes MASSIVE and slows and hard to navigate. But believe it or not is more useful to extract info from than our ERP system!!

Having said that I was curious if we bought a version of Quiickbooks for our on internal use if that would give us the ease of use and reports we need?

Good idea? Work?

QuickBooks, does not do work in process, even in the premier editions. The give you sales order, assemblies, but no other info. I would look at programs that specialize in ERP. I'm afraid QuickBooks would be a complete waste of time without an external program.

Kind of hard to answer since we do not know what reports you need and information you want to track.
