What was the last number used, and what happens when you create a new sales receipt? It may be necessary to insert a number to start the sequence if some changed the number the last time a sales receipt was saved. QB uses the concept of last state saved regarding numbers like this. Try adding a new number a sales receipt, saving that, and then create a new receipt. It will probably be fixed.
