VersaCheck compatibility with Quickbooks and WindowsXP

Greetings. Before I posted, I searched for the most appropriate group and this is what I came across. My apologies if it really doesn't fit here.

I use Versacheck 2007 Platinum. I also use Quickbooks Pro Edition 2006. I use Windows XP on all my workstations. I recently got a "free" VersaJette 300M" inkjet printer (Lexmark 810 series) printer from G7PS with my purchases of checks and MICR ink.

I have been having trouble printing "pass through" checkes with Quickbooks going to Versacheck on the VersaJette 300M. I would always get Spool errors and the Print Spooler service would shut down. I spent a month (on and off) looking into the problem and I got nowhere.

My last straw was to try my old Windows 2000 Pro o/s with all my software and settings installed as a test.

Well, I was relieved, my test proved me successful. For some reason, there are no spool errors thus far using my combination of Windows2000, Quickbooks Pro 2006 & Versacheck 2007 Platinum.

I still don't know what the difference would be but it has got to circle around the SPOOLSV.EXE in WindowsXP I would believe.

P.S. I have also tried the HP1020 laser printer with MICR toner (for about 10 minutes) and regret the purchase. The HP1020 does not allow "pass through" printing. With the HP1020 you will have to go into VersaCheck, print your "blank checks", and then second pass through Quickbooks to get your dollar amounts printed on them. This experience was part of my experience on searching for the least expensive "pass through" solution with QB2006 & VC2007. The HP1020 is good for simple desktop printing but not at all for the "pass through" convenience someone would expect.

For this reason I don't thing G7PS.com - VersaCheck should offer the printer for sale on their website. It's not really a 100% compatible printer for their product.

P.P.S. Anybody know where I can purchase a MICR Toner for a Samsung CLP-510?? I see some prices but they're a bit expensive at the 250.00 to 300.00 USD range.

Regards all, Chris

I am not familiar with the Versacheck program, and how it works with QuickBooks. However I have run into other programs that don't play well with the XP Print Spooler. The solution to those was to print directly to the printer, without using the spooler. I don't know if you have that option, but it may help.
