Microsoft's Small Business Accounting Vs QuickBooks

May 25, 2006 4 Replies

Can anyone offer some similarities and differences between these two accounting softwares?

Also, can Microsoft's Small Business Accounting do complete accouting work up to Balance Sheet, P & L, etc. like QuickBook does?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Reviews have been posted in here already, google for it. But the general opinion is that it is not even close to QB yet, and for people who are using QB it would have to be much better to make learning a new system worthwhile. And of course you have to deal with it being one small part of MS's business.

I agree will all your points except the last. MS has put a lot of resources into the development and marketing of the product. The success of the product is very important to them. Bear in mind the very tight integration the product will have with the next version of MS office. Do not think for one moment that MS does not want to win the battle over the small business accounting market.

I would also suggest looking under the microsoft.public.sba.general group. There have been a lot of comparison between the two.
