Accounting Software for Small Business

Apr 22, 2005 3 Replies

Hi,

I'm starting a small business, just me no employees, and I wondered if anyone could suggest accounting software. Ideally I'd like it to manage stock in the software too. My wish list is...

Tax Vat basic accounts ability to pull up graphs etc, run off reports manage stock

The company will be importing goods and providing consultancy.

That's about all I can think of. I've used quicken for about 10 years for personal finances so am tempted by quickbooks, however it seems sage line 50 is more likely to please the accountants?

Any advice greatly recieved.

If you need to please your accountant - get that person to decide for you.

If not then get Sage, it isn't perfect, but is widely used and supported.

Thanks. Will probably go with sage in that case. Don't have an account yet but it makes sense to me to use the most widely supported.

Doesnt it make more sense to get an accountant and then ask them. Nothing wrong with asking for advice in here but dont commit until you have talked to the accountant you choose.
