Weird Splits

Feb 25, 2006 3 Replies

I have a journal entry like:

Account Debit Credit Transport 100 Meals 50 Tax 25 Due to Shareholder 175

The journal entry goes fine. However, when I do a quick report for Meals (from the Chart of Accounts), the text in the Split column says Transport, not -SPLIT- like it does in so many areas. It's like this for the two such journal entries that I have. Am I missing something?

Yes, a life. Being so anal retentive can be bad for you.

Some transactions show the word -SPLIT-, some show the first account used in the transaction. I've never wasted time trying to figure out why. Frankly, I think it's more helpful to display an account name than the useless "-SPLIT-". However, it's often not helpful to display only the first of several accounts in the transaction. About

15 years using QB and I've never worried about this before, now I don't know if I'll be able to sleep tonight.
